Our Horses
Oreo is a 14 year old Leopard Appaloosa Pony of the Americas mare who was used as
a brood mare and a trail horse. It's easy to see how she got her name as she is white and
covered with dark "spots". Oreo is a champion in the arena with riders being led in class.
Her best friend is her pasture mate, Josie. Oreo is owned and supported by BnB
founders David and Sandra Boe.
Josie is an Egyptian Arabian mare cross, leased to Boots 'n Breeches by Maureen
Peterson. She is about 14 years old and was used as a cart horse prior to coming to
Boots 'n Breeches in 2004. Josie is used for more independent riders who adore her.
Her favorite "pal" is her pasture mate, Oreo. Maureen provides financial support for
Josie.
Jackie’s Tiger Bee or "Jackie" is a grey quarterhorse mare foaled 1985. She is owned
by Boots 'n Breeches, purchased in March of 2005. Jackie is a steady mount for
beginning riders. Her favorite thing is hay so she occassionally must be put on a diet.
Jackie's support comes 100% from donations to the program.
Hercules is a Haflinger Draft foaled in 1997. He is a new addition to the BnB herd,
owned and supported by David and Sandra Boe. He loves attention and is one the
the strongest equines in our herd, supporting riders of all sizes. He is especially good at
carrying riders who want a stable, secure seat.
Cash is a 1988 Appendix Quarter Horse gelding from the famous "Dash for Cash" line
of racing Quarter Horses. Owned and supported by Carrie Wilkinson, Cash stands at
16.2 hands, and is our second-tallest equines. He is also our best-trained mount. Cash
easily transitions from English to Western riding styles. He is also a very intuitive mount
who seems to "read" his riders and understands how skilled they are, making him an
extremely versatile mount.
Foaled in 2003, Chance is the youngest and newest member of our herd. A
half-Clydesdale, 1/4 Percheron and 1/4 Arabian cross, Chance is a personable, curious,
affectionate fellow who is expected to top out at 17 hands in height. He is also a
beautiful buckskin -- an unusual color for a draft horse. Chance will be an obvious choice
for our larger, long-legged riders. We also hope to start a vaulting program with Chance
after he's had a couple of years experience in working with our riders as a therapy mount.
Chance is owned and supported by BnB.
