In establishing a Horses for Heroes service, Boots ‘n
Breeches joins about a dozen other NARHA centers
across the United States that offer Equine Assisted
Activities to returning military and veterans. For individuals
with special needs, EAA has shown to improve muscle
tone, balance, posture, coordination and motor
development as well as emotional well-being.
With a grant provided by the Veteran’s Administration to cover tuition, Boots ‘n Breeches has
arranged to do an eight-week pilot program starting June 17 for four wounded veterans at
Brookwood Equestrian Center. Brookwood is conveniently located to Fort Lewis, McChord
AFB, Madigan Hospital as well as the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

An eight-week pilot program of four veterans will begin in mid-June.
